Charité CBF

modernization of Ward SPS II

The Campus Benjamin Franklin (CBF) hospital is one of four locations belonging to Charité, Berlin. The existing building was commissioned in 1968 after 10 years of construction and, as a compact structure, brought together institutes, clinics and lecture halls under one roof. The building has been under heritage protection since 2013.

The renovation of the patient wards is being carried out in three phases. The SPS II project comprises the second phase of the renovation work in the south wing of Ward Building I over four floors.

The project involves a complete refurbishment with renewal of all building services, fire protection upgrades and optimisation of the functional areas within the wards. Heritage protection requirements as well as the operation of adjacent areas during construction are key facors driving the planning and implementation of the project.
