BTZ Thaerstrasse Berlin
HENKE + PARTNER carried out the implementation planning for a five-storey office building with underground parking. The building is part of the ‘Auf dem Alten Schlachthof’ neighbourhood development in Berlin's Prenzlauerberg district. A vocational training centre (BTZ) was designed to include a variety of rooms with special functions, such as a cafeteria with a teaching kitchen, gymnastics and seminar rooms, as well as various workshops. Thanks to rehabilitation measures, people with mental disabilities are able to participate in working life on an equal footing. The implementation of the graphic design of the plaster facade into a buildable plan presented a particular planning challenge.
