Redevelopment of "Outpost-Building"
The Allied Museum in Berlin is an outstanding and unique example of Southern Californian ‘Googie architecture’ in Berlin and, from an architectural-historical perspective, epitomises the post-war period and the spirit of optimism of the 1950s. Its rounded, dynamic design language reflects the spirit of the age: Cadillac car design, the space race, innovation, dynamism, forward-looking progress – an American ‘time capsule’ right in the heart of Berlin! The building impresses with its atmosphere; stepping into the foyer is like stepping back in a time machine to the heart of the action – one almost expects the doors to open and visitors to emerge in swing-style dresses and chic cardigans. The light, the form and the quiet elegance of the empty space are striking. For a moment, the rock ’n’ roll has faded away; the building slumbers, its dynamism and esprit full of hope as it awaits its new purpose! It stands there as a source of inspiration, right next to the symbol of its design and geometric form: the aircraft technology of a Hastings TG 503.
