Outdoor spaces: Interlinking architecture and landscape

A unique new building for a unique clinic in Germany, designed by HENKE + PARTNER!

Both inside and out - distinctive design elements from the ‘Lung – Breath – Air’ concept – developed specifically for the LungenClinic – characterise the new building and highlight the clinic’s medical spectrum. The connection between medical care and the architectural design language results in an extraordinary building with special significance – a unique design in healthcare architecture in Germany.

Outside, the customised elements can be experienced through the distinctive façade design: like gills, façade elements open semi-permeably, creating a dynamic and exciting impression from both inside and outside. The outdoor areas of Step C are nearing completion and springtime nature is already beginning to ‘grow into’ the building – a symbiotic interconnection of architecture and landscape. The magistrala and its convex-concave wooden pillars facilitate the permeable transition to the landscaped area and the large existing trees.
