Jenfelder Au, Construction Site 16.1

New building in Hamburg-Jenfeld

In the eastern part of Hamburg, a new urban quarter, Jenfelder Au, is being developed according to a master plan by West 8. HENKE + PARTNER designed five apartment buildings and three townhouses on a shared underground car parking on construction site 16.1. The forty-four condominiums and three townhouses with differentiated facades made of plaster and facing surfaces form a family-friendly neighbourhood around a green garden courtyard. A key aspect is sustainability: the construction project is linked to the Hamburg Water Cycle pilot project. The innovative separation of rainwater for infiltration on the property, grey water for recycling and black water for energy generation in the neighbourhood power plant also challenged the planners to coordinate their efforts in a special way.
